it's just like we're in another world
how we suit each other, oh no
but you never get close
- that's close enough...
Pete Doherty and Carl Barat, co-frontmen of The Libertines, back in the day when they were young and inseparable. Aww. I was stupid enough to choose to draw Peter from an angle where you can't quite see his most defining feature - the round, childish eyes with the less-than-innocent dark circles underneath. As a result, I kind of screwed up the resemblance, and aged him when I actually wanted him to look young. *sigh*
That said - this is the first pseudo-realistic piece I've drawn in over two years, and so I am insanely proud of it, even if - technically at least - it's far from my best work. I like the greys, I like the textures, I like the scruffy feel of the hair and the t-shirt, the hand holding the cigarette is not half-bad... and more than anything I like that it feels like my normal style is still there, and it's not a mere photographic copy, because really... where's the fun in that?
B and 4B pencil on paper. Full view please! The small size doesn't do it justice...
YAY OMG YOU FINISHED IT! dkjssknsldkaslan since you posted the scraps version a few days ago I've been listening to the Libertines non-stop xD
I'm completely in awe of this! You can deffinetly tell who it is, I don't think you did badly on Pete at all, I adore the shading you've done on his hair, and Carl's hand with the cigarette. Fantastic.

Aw, thank you! I've been listening to Up the Bracket non stop while drawing - I am really happy you like it. Fans are always the nastiest judges when you do a portrait.
Oh my god the finished drawing! *fall*
Pete resembles Pete that's amazing, this guy is so hard >_< but here...really good. Carl, he... I lost my words
This drawing he have a special emotion... and the difference between you're style and the photographic-style is perfect ^^
Wow!
I've been by your gallery a few times, and I'm always excited to see new work from you, even if I don't know exactly what it's from. You manage to get down the perfect amount of detail without overdoing it. I love it!

Some people have been asking me about this stuff so I decided to gather all information in one single article on how to make your own portfolio, in a profesional and clean looking way. I hope it's useful, because these steps I myself take.
DeviantArt is full of extremely well produced artistic fashion and fine art photographs. Make up. Styling. Creation of scenery. Story. Light. Glamour. A combination of these expressions sometimes make up a great photograph. But the protagonists of these pictures are usually female.
So... now it's the time for male models to come into focus.
How to make DA work for YOU! Taking an in-depth look at how to make deviantART work for you, and getting the most out of your user experience. How to get comments, watches, your work scene, commented on, critiqued, and what you have to do. These are some of the things which I have learned since joining more than 4 1/2 years ago.
`karemelancholia is one of the most genuine deviants you could ever met. Always active and a true deviantART cheerleader and supporter in every aspect. You can always count on her to lend a hand or get involved, and you usually will find her doing large amounts of both at any given moment. She's consistently reports on contests around dA, showcases the efforts of her fellow artists and shows her charitable side through various activities. Besides all of this, she's a truly talented artist which is why she's an obvious choice for deviousness this month. Read More
